Upcoming Appearances

Updated: Aug 19, 2019

Come on out. Let's have a chat!

I added Bouchercon 2019 to my list of appearances today, so I thought I'd take a minute to summarize what's coming up.

Conferences:

Conferences are a great way to hear from some of your favourite authors, and the only way to have a face to face conversation either in a formal panel, or in a social setting. I'll be attending two conventions so far in 2019, both genre specific to thrillers and mysteries. If you've never attended a literary convention before, I highly recommend them.

ThrillerFest XIV - July 9-13, 2019, New York City - www.thrillerfest.com

Bouchercon 2019 - October 30-November 3, 2019, Dallas, Texas - www.bouchercon.com

Courses:

I'll be participating in a number of courses coming up. I'm scheduled to teach one, the details of which are below. I will also be participating in some independent creative writing courses as a guest, I'll post those as they get confirmed.

Science Fiction and Fantasy: Building Other Worlds - January 21-February 25, 2020

This course is offered through Western University's Continuing Studies program. It's six Tuesdays in a row from 7pm-9pm. World building is crucial to the success of these genres. Whether it's a Space Opera, Dystopian, or Wizards and Dragons story, your world needs to feel complete for the reader to fully engage with your story. Each week I'll be looking at a different aspect of world building, supported by recommended readings and in-class exercises. I'd love to see you there!
